The Tribune Star 2008 Beautiful Baby Contest Rules
Eligibility: The 2008 Baby Contest is open to all residents of the United States. Contest is open to photos of children taken prior to their 4th birthday. Employees of The Tribune Star as well as immediate family members are not eligible to win.
Entry Period: Entry will begin at 12:01 a.m. June 16th, 2008 and ends June 30th, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.
How to Enter: Enter by submitting a completed entry form as well as a photo of the baby and a $10 donation to the Newspapers-In- Education program (cash, check, money order, credit card). Entries must be submitted by an adult 18 years or older at the time of submission. The child in the photo can be up to 4 years old at the time of the contest. Digital photos must be sent in jpg form and 240 dpi. Only one photo entered per child. Name of baby, person submitting the photo and phone number must be listed on the back of the photo. By submitting this information, The Tribune Star reserves the right to use the baby’s photo and name in any print products of The Tribune Star as well as on its website. Checks for entry may be made payable to Tribune Star Newspapers-In-Education Program. Photos will not be returned. Professional photographs, Kiosk and color printer photos cannot be accepted.
Online Entry: Visit The Tribune Star's website at www.tribstar.com. Download and fill out the entry form and mail your entry along with the photo and donation or come by the Tribune-Star Offices and drop off your entry.
Mail or In Person Entry: Complete the entry form found in editions of The Tribune Star as well as The Tribune Star office located at 222 S. 7th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana. Entries may be delivered or mailed to The Tribune Star office. Mail to, Beautiful Baby Contest PO Box 149, Terre Haute, IN 47807. Entries must be postmarked by June 27, 2008 and received no later than June 30, 2008. Photos will be published in The Tribune Star on Monday, June 16, 2008.
Voting and Rules: The voting period for round one begins 12:01 a.m. Monday, June16th, 2008 and will end at 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 30th. Votes may be made at The Tribune Star, mailed or online. Mailed votes must be postmarked by Saturday, June 27th, 2008 and received before June 30th, 2008. In person votes as well as online votes must be received by 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008. Voting for round two begins on July 7th and will end on July 21st. Round three will begin on July 28th and end on August 4th. The winning baby will be announced through the Tribune-Star on or around August 11th. Voting is open to the general public and costs $.25 per vote (min. $10.00 online charge). Online payment must be made through PayPal. Voting is limited to persons 18 years or older. There is not limit on the amount of votes a person can cast. The Tribune Star will not be responsible for any incomplete, lost, late, postage due or illegible entries. In the event of a dispute, all online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the owner of the PayPal account from which they were sent. Any question regarding the number of entries submitted or the owner of a PayPal account shall be determined by The Tribune Star. The Tribune Star reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the contest.
Winner Determination: Winners will be determined by the total number of votes received. In the event of a tie, The Tribune Star will randomly pick the winner from the tied entries. Winners will be announced in the Tribune Star.
Prizes: First place winner will receive a U.S. Saving Bond and will have their photo published in a full page ad in the Tribune Star. Second Place winner will receive a U.S. Savings Bond and Third Place will receive a U.S. Savings Bond. The top three winner's photos will appear in The Tribune Star in a full page ad. Savings Bond amounts are yet to be determined.
Winner Notification: All parents/legal guardians of winners grant the right to The Tribune Star to publish the photo of their child in any print ads associated with the 2008 Beautiful Baby contest. A valid photo ID of the parent or legal guardian may be required. Winners may waive their right to receive prizes. Prizes are nontransferable and there will be no substitutions allowed by winner. The Tribune Star reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Winners are responsible for reporting and payment of any tax on prizes. Winners may be required to complete an affidavit and publicity release, which must be returned within 10 days of personal delivery or date of postmark. Failure to sign and return the affidavit or to comply with any terms or conditions of the official rules may result in disqualification and a substitute may be awarded.
Participation: By participating in the 2008 Beautiful Baby contest, entrants are bound to the official rules and regulations. The Tribune Star reserves the right to disqualify any persons tampering with or abusing the contest. In the event this contest is compromised by any non-authorized human intervention, tampering or other cause beyond the control of The Tribune Star, The Tribune Star reserves the right to suspend, modify or terminate the 2008 Beautiful Baby Contest. Should the contest be terminated prior to the expiration date, The Tribune Star reserves the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date. The 2008 Beautiful Baby Contest is sponsored by The Tribune Star. The Tribune Star reserves the right to make all decisions regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of the contest. The Tribune Star will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in the Official Rules or other materials regarding the contest.
